No more hospital (fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc)
Well...after spending over 3 weeks in the hospital after her weight loss surgery, my wife is home and on the mend. SERIOUS MENDING...she has a hole in her abdomen that looks almost like she's been prepared to accept a Goa'uld symbiote! Thankfully by friday they'll have this thing called a wound vac. Basically it sucks out all the nasty stuff so no bacteria can grow (at least...not well), increases local blood flow and holds the edges of the wound tightly together. All this makes the wound heal many times faster than it normally would.
The machine its self really only has about $200 worth of parts (stupid LCD that lets you do shit that would work just as well with buttons) and of course they charge you $100+ per day to rent the $200 sack of parts. But I'm sure the company that made it probably charged like $5000 for the thing.
I too have spent loooooooooong hours in the hospital while continuing to work (maximum suckage factor,captain...she can't take much more!) Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, things are back to normal...sort of.
The day she came home (August 19) was pretty good. Not only did she come home, ending my mind numbing days in the hospital...I found a fully funcitonal P2-350 box in the dumpster (which of course also included case/PSU, 40x CD, 6.4gig hard drive, 128meg of RAM, a crappy 3D video card, floppy and an old sound blaster).
I have a very special method for finding computers in the dumpster...it seems to be pretty unusual. I LOOK! You'd be amazed what you can find in the trash if you just look around! I don't really find very much, but it only takes me something like one minute to check the thing (if I'm not already headed that way). I figure I average making a couple bucks per trip...would you look in your dumpster every day for $2 per trip?
