Well, I was goofing around over the weekend and for a lark, I decided to see if I could figure out how to make simple processors work faster. I came up with something I thought might work and decided to look into how the instructions would work with that process (Opcode, SourceReg1 Source2 destination). It turned out that there was an INSANE amount of overlap using that scheme. In fact...it could work with just 5 instructions. I think it would actually take fewer transistors than the i4004 (the first microprocessor) which is pretty good considering THAT processor was a 4 bit and this one is a 16 bit. Aaaaaaaaanyway, that's my thought for the day.

In other news (and probably news you'd care more about if you've read my last post for the last few months ;) My wife is doing quite well now. Her wounds are pretty much healed and she's lost 60 pounds! It was a long road but it was worth the trip (well, she seems to feel that way). TECHNICALLY she only had one complication due to the surgery. The other TWO trips to the hospital were for a blood clot due to the IV line and ...ummmm... well, she got sick, but there was some sort of illness like that actually going around at that time anyway. Overall she recommends the gastric bypass thing to anyone who's waaaaaaaaaaaaay overweight
