A bit has happened...

First off...my wife's getting her disability check...and she's finally received her back pay ("only" 90 days late)

Second, since we have money again I got myself a better (but not great) video card...a Radeon 9600XT and a Mobile athlon 2400+. The athlon's cruising along at what would loosely be rated at 3500+ (a bit over 2400mhz actual). Of course my computer wasn't a slouch in the CPU department before...the athlon 2500+ will be going in my wife's machine soon and I'll have two reasonably fast gaming machines.

Doom3 is also going on :) That was the point of getting a better video card. Although it was playable on my old 64meg Radeon 8500...it's WAY BETTER on a 9600XT (but still not anywhere near top quality). Doom3 is one of the creepiest games I've ever seen. It really does keep you jumping. Grotesque monsters, voices and sounds that may or may not indicate you're about to be attacked, steam escaping and stuff falling as you're walking around...and an unnerving darkness everywhere. You spend much of your time backed into corners you hope are safe...checking your weapons to make sure they're all fully loaded before you run into the next room)

On a not too nice note, the fucking bitch that we think broke in (with help from her friends) and made off with loads of my stuff...has been spotted in the area again. Measures have been taken to insure she will not be able to gain entry. It is currently easier to just break thru the brick wall than it is to come in thru the windows or doors)
