Boom!

And now one of the uses of that air compressor. Basically I have this little gadget I made that's kind of similar to a water rocket launcher. The main difference is that it has a pair of posts that I can use to ignite a mixture of compressed air and some sort of flammable gas
The compressor worked very well. Pumped up the bottle quickly (not faster than a hand pump, just easier) and afterward I used the 12v outlet to power the ignition system. For the first and only test so far (I live in the city...have to go to my parents' place to do extensive testing) I only pumped it up to about 50psi even though bottles themselves will take 100psi or more. Result...BOOM! About as loud as a very loud gun...it set off a car alarm about 100 feet away. The thing that did surprise me is that the bottom of the bottle is the part that blew out (maybe they're designed that way?)...and as a result the bottle was flattened somewhat, bending the oversized piece of aluminum I'd used. I guess I should have looked around for that smaller piece. Anyway, here's what it all looked like after
