Long time since the last update

Well, nothing much has been going on. Got sidetracked backing up my DVD collection (DVD's that I actually own...so no actual piracy there). I've also been dabbling with water rockets again, but there isn't any good place locally to set them off locally...and the weather (wind) hasn't been good either.

For those that care, I'm using a "Clark cable tie" launcher...and instead of building a stand, I've decided to just drive a stake into the ground and use a few cable ties to hold the launcher (takes up less space)

...and in case you don't understand how that's going to work, you can see in the picture below how the tops of the cable ties lock the bottle in place once the collar is slid into place

This time I decided to try an idea someone mentioned for fins. Basically just make a skirt out of another bottle. I made several different versions of this type of fins so I can see how they work. While it's probably less efficient I found the best LOOKING fin skirts included a little of the tapered end of the bottle...I think it has a kind of a jet engine look to it, but it might just be me.

Hopefully the cooler looking skirt won't get sucked into the exhaust stream...although I expect the 2 liter version might not even be able to withstand normal take-off conditions...much less the burst of air after the water runs out.

Hmmm, that post was just a tiny bit longer than I thought it'd be. Until next time, this is poit...signing off
