Stuff in general

Diet: the diet is going well, it's been a little over a month since I started and I've lost 28 pounds. I had gone to the doctor just before I started because I was starting to feel crappy. Went back a week ago (should have posted then ;) and the doctor was AMAZED. Shook my hand and congratulated me several times, high five, pacing around being generally amazed. Apparently I'd lost more weight in 4 weeks than he'd managed to lose in 3 months. Go me!
My original plan was to lose down to 180 pounds (82kg), but it looks like that won't be as difficult as I thought. Several people are suggesting I try to lose a bit more and I'm inclined to agree it would be a good idea. At my height I would be just over the upper limit of "normal" weight at about 170 pounds (77kg)...seems like a reasonable goal. After that it's back to eating reasonably. HOORAY!

Water Rockets: Well, I had a launch a couple weeks ago but haven't posted any info on it (here or elsewhere) because...I was the one doing most of the launching. I'll have to get the pictures/video from other people at a future date. The whole "event" lasted 3-4 hours and there were about two dozen people total. I gave away both of the launchers I'd constructed, one to a friend and one to my mother's neighbors (4 kids in their teens). Apparently the kids have been playing with water rockets on and off ever since.

DVD backups: The problems with the Samsung drive SEEM to have been the result of a non-standard bus speed and/or a bad cable. Beth's computer is back up to full speed (Athlon 2500+ overlcocked to 3200+ speeds). Been backing up movies for my mother as well...I have no idea how many I've copied total but I've got a LOT of it completed...maybe half. Probably copied 300-400 DVD's (the second drive REALLY helps).
Well, that's it for this update
